Emma Álvarez Marty (2000, Madrid) es artista visual, investigadora y comisaria. A través de la escultura, la fotografía y la investigación situada imagina otras formas de relación con los ecosistemas desde el archivo vivo junto a la ciencia y el activismo. Explora cómo la práctica artística impacta y modifica el territorio, resaltando la importancia del gesto como herramienta ética y de regeneración.
A través de acciones mínimas y la experimentación con materias procedentes de entornos alterados, desarrolla obras que hacen visibles procesos normalmente imperceptibles, convirtiendo la práctica artística en un espacio de observación, escucha y reflexión crítica. El gesto ocupa un lugar central en su investigación como herramienta ética para señalar el daño ambiental, activar formas de cuidado y proponer nuevas maneras de relacionarnos con el territorio desde la atención y la coexistencia.
Ha mostrado su obra en festivales como PhotoEspaña (2026), Serendipity Arts Festival de India (2025), PROYECTOR Festival de Videoarte (2025) y Paranapiacaba Photography Festival de Brasil (2023), y en centros de arte y galerías como Mèdol Centre d´Arts Contemporaries del Camp de Tarragona (2025), Galería i23 y FOTOSEPTIEMBRE | Mexico International Photography Festival (2024), Galería Nueva (2023), Círculo de Bellas Artes de Madrid (2022), E CA Espai d’Art Contemporani Riba-Roja de Túria de Valencia (2022) y Galería PRADIAUTO (2022).
Graduada en Bellas Artes y en Máster de Fotografía Artística y Documental (Universidad TAI - URJC), actualmente realiza un doctorado en Bellas Artes por la Universidad Complutense de Madrid y pertenece al grupo de investigación IMPACT del Departamento de Diseño y Imagen. Como docente, Marty ha sido profesora en el Máster de Fotografía Artística y Documental de la Universidad TAI. Recientemente, escribió el artículo 'Fotografiar con cuidado: Lo que el Agua nos dice', en la publicación digital 'Lo que el Agua nos dice. Exploraciones fluidas del río Manzanares', de Deneb Martos y Ana Paes, con el que reflexiona sobre la ética y el impacto de la práctica artística sobre el ecosistema y otros seres no humanos.
Marty combina su práctica artística con el comisariado y la gestión cultural. Desde 2023 es miembro y coordinadora de El Local, un espacio independiente para la fotografía y la imagen contemporánea en Madrid. Junto con Ignacio Navas, ha cofundado y coordina ENLACES, un programa que presenta el panorama artístico español a comisarios internacionales a través de visitas privadas y reuniones en El Local, con el apoyo del Programa de Visitantes PICE de AC/E. Ha comisariado las exposiciones 'Re-Connecting Satellite' (Nueva Bauhaus Europea × Universidad TAI, 2024), 'Lo que el Agua nos dice' de Deneb Martos y Ana Paes (El Local, 2025) y '¿No es eso típico de mí? | Ain´t that just like me?' en el OFF del Festival PhotoEspaña (El Local × Camara Oscura Galeria de Arte, 2026).
Desde 2024 coordina La Embajada junto a Ignacio Navas y Jonàs Forchini, una plataforma independiente para impulsar proyectos creados en el contexto del territorio español activa durante el Festival Rencontres d´Arles en Francia, apoyado por la Plataforma Fotografía e Imagen y el Ministerio de Cultura Español.
Está igualmente involucrada en el activismo ecologista, habiendo formado parte de Fridays For Future Madrid (FFF), Proyecto Verde Colmenarejo y Verdemorillo.

Emma Álvarez Marty (b. 2000, Madrid) is a visual artist, researcher and curator. Through sculpture, photography and situated research, she imagines alternative ways of relating to ecosystems, drawing on the living archive alongside science and activism. She explores how artistic practice impacts and alters the territory, highlighting the importance of gesture as a tool for ethics and regeneration.
Through minimal interventions and experimentation with matters sourced from altered environments, she creates works that make normally imperceptible processes visible, transforming artistic practice into a space for observation, listening and critical reflection. Gesture occupies a central place in her research as an ethical tool for highlighting environmental damage, activating forms of care and proposing new ways of relating to the territory through attentiveness and coexistence.
She has exhibited his work at festivals such as PhotoEspaña (2026), the Serendipity Arts Festival in India (2025), the PROYECTOR Video Art Festival (2025) and the Paranapiacaba Photography Festival in Brazil (2023), and at art centres and galleries such as the Mèdol Centre d’Arts Contemporaries in Camp de Tarragona (2025), Galería i23 and FOTOSEPTIEMBRE | Mexico International Photography Festival (2024), Galería Nueva (2023), the Círculo de Bellas Artes in Madrid (2022), E CA Espai d’Art Contemporani Riba-Roja de Túria in Valencia (2022) and Galería PRADIAUTO (2022).
Graduated in Fine Arts and holder of a Master’s degree in Artistic and Documentary Photography (TAI University – URJC), she is currently pursuing a PhD in Fine Arts at the Complutense University of Madrid and is a member of the IMPACT research group in the Department of Design and Visual Communication. As an educator, Marty has been a lecturer on the Master’s programme in Artistic and Documentary Photography at TAI University. She recently wrote the article ‘Fotografiar con cuidado: Lo que el Agua nos dice’ for the digital publication 'Lo que el Agua nos dice. Exploraciones fluidas del río Manzanares', edited by Deneb Martos and Ana Paes, in which she reflects on the ethics and impact of artistic practice on the ecosystem and other non-human beings.
Marty combines her artistic practice with curating and cultural management. Since 2023, she has been a member and coordinator of El Local, an independent space for photography and contemporary imagery in Madrid. Together with Ignacio Navas, she co-founded and coordinates ENLACES, a programme that introduces the Spanish art scene to international curators through private viewings and meetings at El Local, with the support of AC/E’s PICE Visitors Programme. She has curated the exhibitions 'Re-Connecting Satellite' (New European Bauhaus × TAI University, 2024), 'Lo que el Agua nos dice' by Deneb Martos and Ana Paes (El Local, 2025) and '¿No es eso típico de mí? | Ain´t that just like me?' at the OFF programme of the PhotoEspaña Festival (El Local × Camara Oscura Art Gallery, 2026).
Since 2024, she has been coordinating La Embajada alongside Ignacio Navas and Jonàs Forchini, an independent platform to promote projects created within the Spanish context, active during the Rencontres d’Arles Festival in France, supported by the Photography and Image Platform and the Spanish Ministry of Culture.
She is also involved in environmental activism and has been a member of Fridays For Future Madrid (FFF), Proyecto Verde Colmenarejo and Verdemorillo.
