La exposición 'Lo que el Agua nos dice. Exploraciones fluidas del río Manzanares', pretende realizar un análisis sobre la manera de coexistir como seres humanos con el ecosistema del río Manzanares. Así, esta muestra expone la sensibilidad de Ana Paes y Deneb Martos y se traslada al papel mediante técnicas fluidas como el rayograma (una técnica de fotografía sin cámara que consiste en exposiciones lumínicas directas sobre papel fotosensible), cromatografías de sedimentos, mapas y registros audiovisuales situados en el entorno del circuito del río Manzanares para crear una cartografía de caminatas nocturnas y diurnas por un río con escaso caudal que ha sobrevivido a reformas industriales debido a su condición y que se ha mantenido como memoria de la capital madrileña.
Se trata de una aproximación al río como archivo vivo. Un gesto de atención con el que crear un manifiesto de agua a través de su propio lenguaje. Darse cuenta del destello en la noche que desvela una caricia que forma una arruga líquida sobre una piedra y transformarla en rayograma. Caminar entre los vestigios de un caudal que acoge la vida a pesar de los obstáculos humanos, toallitas, botellas, cerámicas. Un picnic entre amigas escuchando el chapoteo del agua entre las ramas de rosas caninas, juncos y fresnos. Entender la interdependencia y la belleza de compartir y cohabitar en armonía.
En el proyecto Lo que el Agua nos dice, se utilizan múltiples caminos de investigación, desde el campo más artístico al más científico, recolectando y considerando saberes locales sobre el ecosistema y contando con una interpretación de los datos y observaciones en colaboración con agentes expertos tales como investigadores, científicas/os y paisajistas locales que revelan la calidad del fondo acuático y la contaminación hídrica de sus aguas. Consiste en una exploración profunda sobre un ecosistema al que estamos extremadamente ligados como seres vivos y al que, con la crisis climática actual, se hace necesario volver a recorrer y escuchar lo que nos dice. Pensar en su pasado, presente y futuro para ser conscientes de las necesidades y cuidados que aún estamos a tiempo de aplicar sobre ecosistemas tan importantes como los de nuestros ríos, fuentes de vida, belleza y esperanza.

The exhibition 'Lo que el Agua nos dice. Exploraciones fluidas del río Manzanares' aims to analyse how we as human beings can coexist with the Manzanares River ecosystem. Thus, this exhibition showcases the sensitivity of Ana Paes and Deneb Martos and is transferred to paper using fluid techniques such as rayography (a camera-less photography technique that consists of direct light exposure on photosensitive paper), sediment chromatography, maps and audiovisual records located in the vicinity of the Manzanares River circuit to create a cartography of night and day walks along a river with a low flow that has survived industrial reforms due to its condition and has remained as a memory of the capital city of Madrid.
This is an approach to the river as a living archive. A gesture of attention with which to create a manifesto of water through its own language. To notice the sparkle in the night that reveals a caress forming a liquid ripple on a stone and transform it into a rayogram. Walking among the vestiges of a stream that welcomes life despite human obstacles, wipes, bottles, ceramics. A picnic among friends listening to the splashing of water among the branches of dog roses, reeds and ash trees. Understanding the interdependence and beauty of sharing and coexisting in harmony.
The project 'Lo que el Agua nos dice' uses multiple avenues of research, from the artistic to the scientific, collecting and considering local knowledge about the ecosystem and interpreting data and observations in collaboration with experts such as researchers, scientists and local landscape architects who reveal the quality of the aquatic environment and the water pollution of its waters. It consists of an in-depth exploration of an ecosystem to which we are extremely attached as living beings and which, with the current climate crisis, we need to revisit and listen to what it tells us. Thinking about its past, present and future to be aware of the needs and care that we still have time to apply to ecosystems as important as our rivers, sources of life, beauty and hope.
